Dog Crates for High Anxiety and Escape Artist Dogs
You might be familiar with the story, you put your dog in his crate while you run an errand, but you know he’ll probably get out. He’s done it be before. He might even hurt himself doing it, but he will get out. After he does, the house is his do with as he pleases. You can’t get this out of your might, you’re stressing out. You cut your trip short to head home. Hoping that maybe, he has not escaped this time and you won’t have a huge mess to clean up. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. We get calls every week with a variation of this story. The good news is we have a solution, the Zinger Crate system. Zinger is a strong, lightweight crate that WILL hold your dog guaranteed!!!
Make Sure You Have the Right Sized Crate
It’s important to first ensure you have the correct sized crate for your dog. Crates that are too small or too large can cause anxiety and make things worse. Just three quick measurements is all you will need to determine the correct size Zinger Crate for your dog.
STEP 1: Measure your dog based on the diagram below
A = length of the animal from tip of the nose to the base of the tail.
B = height of the animal when standing, from top of head (or ears, whichever is higher) to the floor - ears must not touch the top of the kennel when standing.
C = width at the widest point.
STEP 2: Calculate the size of the crate needed for your dog
The length of the kennel must be equal to A + 4".
The height of the kennel must be equal to or greater than B + 3".
The width of the kennel must be equal to C x 2.
Dogs are naturally den animals, and though it might not seem like it to us, a crate can be a very comfortable and soothing place for a dog. A place to rest, relax and let their guard down. Some dogs feel the need to guard their territory, but once in their crate, that territory becomes a very small place. A place that they can relax for a time and not be on duty.
Quiet and Familiar
You will want to place the crate in your home where he is familiar. This will help to allow him to relax, versus placing him in a part of the home that neither of you spends much time. You will also want to remove distractions, like favorite toys, windows to the backyard etc. The idea here is to allow your dog to relax and rest while in the crate.
Zinger Strengths
Lightweight - Zinger Crates are surprisingly light! When you think of a metal dog crate, you expect it to be very heavy and difficult to move. This is not the case with Zinger’s dog crates. Zinger crates are constructed from lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum which is known for its durability and strength. Aluminum crates are perfect for dogs with high anxiety, who often destroy or break out of plastic and wire crates. While built to be strong and secure, Zinger crates are light enough to be handled by one person with little effort. This is useful if you plan to take the crate with you when you’re traveling.
Secure - Security is one of the main reasons people choose Zinger crates. All Zinger crates are reinforced with solid bars and welded for extra strength the door is built to last. A full-length piano hinge and striker plate is standard and the door can be easily reversed to allow left or right-hand opening. The crate doors are secured with metal keyed locks and welded in place. This way, not even the strongest, biggest dogs can chew through. Zinger even has a crate called the escape artist, which features heavy-duty door construction.
If you have a dog with separation anxiety, or an “escape artist” the zinger crate is for you. The Professional model actually comes with a “90-Day No Escape Warranty”. We find that most escaping, hard-to-contain, dog realize very quickly that these crates are escape-proof. They quickly give up trying to get out and finally relax. For the first time owners are seeing their dogs relax, lie down and really rest when in their crate.
